SUBANG – PT DAHANA has played an important role in the construction and development plan of the Sadawarna Dam which was inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

In order to support the construction of the Sadawarna Dam, as revealed by the President Director of PT DAHANA Wildan Widarman in mid-2019, DAHANA let 72 hectares of its land for the Sadawarna Dam to the government.

“The land then became the first step for executing Sadawarna Dam Project as suggested by the Citarum River Basin Administration Center (BBWS),” explained Mr Widarman Dahana Subang Campus.

DAHANA area also offers a very strategic value for the Sadawarna Dam as its existence is included in the National Vital Object with security and safety standards and therefore maximum utilization of the Sadawarna Dam can be carried out safely.

DAHANA bought 600 hectares of land from PTPN VIII in 90s. In 2010s DAHANA built various facilities on the land that included explosives factory, warehousing, Central Management Office (Campus), and a multipurpose building that can be used by the community. Currently the DAHANA EMC area has also become a buffer zone for the Sadawarna Dam.

“To expand the benefits of the Sadawarna Dam and improve the community’s economy, DAHANA’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) unit, which has a track record in community empowerment in the Jatigede Dam area, is currently preparing various collaborative programs with the community around the Sadawarna Dam, especially in fisheries and tourism,” said Mr Widarman.

Sadawarna Dam is one of the National Strategic Programs in the water resources. This dam can accommodate 44.61 million m3 to irrigate an area of 4,500 hectares in Subang and Indramayu Regencies. This dam is also prepared to supply water for the Patimban and Pantura Port Areas of West Java.

Apart from that, the existence of the Sadawarna Dam is also expected to reduce flooding in the Cipunagara Watershed (DAS), namely Subang, Sumedang and Indramayu. The Sadawarna Dam still has a lot of potential to be developed, such as the potential source of 2 MW of water-cycled power generation (PLTA).
